Fishing Guide in Matlacha
Matlacha is that old Florida fishing village vibe where the water is calm, the seafood is fresh, and the fishing is consistently good on the grass flats and oyster bars.
Fishing Matlacha
Matlacha sits right on the edge of Pine Island Sound, and the fishing here is all about the backwater. We're fishing Matlacha Pass, which is mostly shallow water with seagrass flats, oyster bars, and plenty of mangrove shorelines. This is redfish and trout country. The redfish here are often spooky in the skinny water, but they're there, and sight fishing to them is a blast. The trout hang out on the deeper grass flats and will hit a variety of baits. What I love about Matlacha is how laid back it is. The village itself is small, the water is protected, and we can spend a full day fishing without running far. The bite changes with the tide more than the season here. A falling tide often triggers the best redfish activity around the oyster bars. Summer brings good trout fishing, while fall and winter are excellent for redfish. The area also gives us access to some good snook fishing around the passes when the conditions are right.

What Anglers Say
“I had a great time yesterday on the water with Capt. Stu. He took me on an all day trip and did not disappoint. Got me my first redfish and tarpon which we leadered to the boat and he shoot back off under the boat and broke us off. To top it off that got me my first inshore grand slam which was an awesome experience! I will definitely be booking again with Capt. Stu”
“Had an excellent time the guy seems real knowledgeable about the fish in the area and everything going on with the fishery. Would def go again!”
